Assessments

Sophisticated & intuitive solutions

UNRIVALLED ASSESSING

The KMS comprises an assessment suite that goes well beyond the traditional LMS assessment capabilities, which is primarily based on the fact that assessments are not embedded into content. A quintessential tool to delivering robust assessing is the Question Bank functionality.

The Question Bank is a question repository from which questions are drawn, via an easily programmable Question Selector. The KMS may contain unlimited Question Banks containing unlimited questions, whereby questions can easily be grouped within each Question Bank.

The Question Selector supplies any number of (random) questions from predetermined Question Groups from pre-set Question Banks. Even though each learner’s assessment will differ, the comparability remains due to the established reference between Question Groups and Question Banks.

ASSESSMENT CAPABILITIES

Benefit from a data centric architecture that delivers a level of measurability not seen before with traditional LMSs. The KMSs assessment suite can be applied together with SCORM content in a single course thereby ensuring measurability irrespective of content type.

VERIFIED IDENTITY / PROCTORING

Integrated & Easy to Use Proctoring

Proctoring, or the verification of a learner’s identity, is seldomly reliably effected via a third-party LMS plug in. This is why the KMS has an integrated, easy to use and reliable proctoring solution termed VITAL-1 (Verified Identity Testing and Assessment Lodging). VITAL-1 relies on repetitive imaging of the learner coupled with face recognition to verify the images against a stored identity document.

How Proctoring Works

Before commencing the assessment, the KMS confirms that the learner has access to a web camera and that the learner has an identity document stored on their profile.

The learner’s photograph is taken, recognised and compared to the stored identity document for verification purposes. Only if there is a positive match between the photograph and stored identity document will the learner be allowed to commence the assessment.

During the assessment the KMS takes undetected photographs of the learner at random intervals and continuously performs facial recognition and comparisons against the stored identity document, thereby providing a similarity value, which defines the likelihood that both compared faces are the same.

Should the similarity value be within an acceptable range, the learner will be able to complete the assessment and, if competent, download a certificate or badge as required – all without the involvement of an invigilator.

Conversely, should the similarity value be below a specific threshold, the learner’s assessment will be locked after having submitted the assessment for scoring, whereafter an invigilator is notified who in turn may review each photograph captured during the assessment session and manually confirm – or reject – the learner’s identity.

In line with legislation requirements, the KMS safely retains all proctored assessments including the captured photographs and stored identity documents used for each assessment.
