Endorsed by the SABPP – Again!

The Knowledge Management System is the only Learning Management System in South Africa that has been endorsed by the SA Board of People Practices – for a second time in a row!

Who is the SABPP?

The SABPP’s, or SA Board of People Practices’, role is to professionalise the HR function to ensure that HR becomes an increasingly recognised and respected profession. The Board is an accredited ETQA (Education and Training Quality Assurance body) under the NQF Act and Skills Development Act. The SABPP was established in 1982, so the SABPP was set up as an autonomous body to be the standards and professional registration body for the HR profession. Over the last 38 years, the SABPP has registered more than 10 000 HR Professionals on five different levels of professionalism. In 2002 SABPP was recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority as an ETQA and in 2011 as a professional body. In 2013, SABPP made history by developing the world’s first national HR Standards, followed in 2014 by an HR Audit Framework.

Moreover, the HR Competency model developed by SABPP provides a clear description of the competencies needed by HR Professionals. Therefore, HR Standards, HR Audits, Competencies and Quality Assurance constitute the fundamental building blocks for professionalising HR Practice in South Africa.

What does this mean for you?

Endorsed as “Citizenship of the future: Innovation, Technology and Duty to Society”, the Knowledge Management System had to demonstrate value that goes well beyond a traditional Learning Management System. This included catering for the unique functionality, which includes some of the following:

  • Access from any mobile device
  • Moderation
  • Formative & summative assessing
  • Observational & practical assessing
  • Classroom training & capturing
  • Portfolio of evidence capabilities
  • Learner profile retention in line with legislation (at no cost to customer!)
  • and many more…

As a result, Skypiom’s Knowledge Management System is able to meet the requirements pertaining to the mode of delivery described in the “Open Learning Policy Framework for Post-School Education and Training” that was gazetted by the Department of Higher Education and Training early in 2017. Meeting these requirements and standards aligns the KMS with the requirements set out by the QCTO and SAQA.

Skypiom is proud to be, as the only LMS in South Africa, yet again endorsed by the SABPP.
